Radiant Insulation

IF you are going to put down a solid pad foundation for your Wood Gasification Furnace to set on then make sure you use a layer of the Barrier, under concrete insulation. The Barrier&trad; is the World's finest concrete and radiant under slab insulation by providing vapor and moisture barrier protection in combination with insulation from conduction. It is also excellent to use in the trench with the Flexsul-seal insulated pipe. You can read more about it at www.GreenInsulationProducts.com

Many people who are building are choosing to use the OWHH, the Green Furnace to act as the central heating system with an efficient hot water heater as the backup. Utilizing radiant heating in the slab with the Barrier underneath provides the excellent foundation upon which to start the process. MicroFoil Reflective Foil insulation is the optimum choice for reflecting the heat transported through the radiant tubing. It contains no dangerous fibers to breath, is easy to install and can be found on www.GreenInsulationProducts.com

If you choose to build a shed or metal building to store wood in, it is advisable to insulate under the metal roof with MicroLt. Radiant Barrier insulation products can be found at www.barrett-inc.com

I had been looking for an outdoor wood gasifier for the past few years. All I could find on the North American market were indoor models that required constant attention with single building btu/h ratings. The Sequoyah Paradise model E3400 was the solution. It can handle multiple buildings with the 320,000 btu/h rating. The gasifier only needs to be filled once per day. I currently have a poorly insulated greenhouse connected with radiant tubing buried in sand and the system has been operating without issues. The forced downdraft gasification process is the most efficient means to burning wood. With the aquastat controlling the downdraft blower, the fire in the burn box will smolder and prepare the wood in the burn chamber while the temperature in the water jacket slowly drops. Therefore, no wasted wood during times of no heat load demand. The fire essentially stops. The efficiency of the gasification process, to use substantially less wood than the traditional wood boiler. I believe the wood gasifier has paid for itself in the first year. Heating with No. 2 fuel oil would have cost $15K to heat the old greenhouses. I estimate I used 10 cords of quality hardwood and six cords of softwood, cleaning up the downed trees on the farm. $1500/year for wood versus $15K/year for No. 2. Big savings!
